A Life Well Lived - Ruby Lopp Celebrates 102 Years!

On February 28, 1915, Woodrow Wilson was President, World War I was in its early stages, and the U.S. House of Representatives had soundly rejected a proposal to give women the right to vote. Babe Ruth hit his first home run for the Boston Red Sox that year, and the beloved Raggedy Ann Doll was designed and patented. There were silent films, Charlie Chaplin’s “The Tramp” was released, and the first coast to coast phone call went from New York City to California.

That was the world that welcomed Ruby Nancy Ellen Whitten who was born in Wayne County, Tennessee on February 28, 1915.

Ms. Ruby Lopp celebrates 102 years with a smile!

Please join family and friends to celebrate Miss Ruby with an Open House Reception on Sunday, February 26th 2017 from 2-4 p.m. at Boyd Cottages, 210 Fairlane Drive, Waynesboro, TN.

Miss Ruby might be celebrating her 102 birthday but she still makes her daily rounds to visit with her Boyd Cottages friends and family. She is a member of Waynesboro First United Church and is a regular at the third Sunday night service at what Rev. Kevin Marston calls First United Methodist Church – Boyd Cottages.

In her spare time, Miss Ruby can be found at the Boyd Cottages game table and is usually the first one to shout Bingo! You have to wonder what kind of prize to give a 102 woman, but the hand lotion or candy suits her just fine. It’s all about the fun for Miss Ruby – for 102 years.
